The 2017 Global Hands-On Universe Conference Aug 14-21 is developing into quite an exciting event. Start out with the fact that the location at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky is right in the path of totality of the Great Total Solar Eclipse of 2017, August 21 – the climax of the Conference!
Add to that three powerhouse invited speakers:
• Dr. Amber Stuver of LIGO on gravity wave detections
• Dr. Jay Pasachoff on Eclipses
• Dr. Michael Barnett, UC Berkeley, on the planetarium show, “Phantom of the Universe: The Hunt for Dark Matter”
There will be Oral Presentations, Workshops, and Posters by attendees as outlined in the preliminary Program that is being periodically updated on the GHOU Conference website.
That is also where you can still register to attend:
If you register before May 31, you can still submit an abstract proposal for a presentation or workshop.
Hotel space in any eclipse path of totality gets astronomically expensive, so act NOW to reserve your room at the conference hotel that still has a reasonable rate. See “Logistics” on the Conference website.
