The path of total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 across Kentucky.

The 2017 edition of Global Hands-On Universe (GHOU2017) conference and Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP) international workshop will take place in Bowling Green, Kentucky from 15 to 21 August 2017 in collaboration with Western Kentucky University, USA.
Western Kentucky University invites members and friends of Global Hands-On Universe to register for the GHOU2017 meeting and the GTTP workshop. The scientific and educational program will be scheduled to allow participants to be able to view the total solar eclipse of 21 August 2017. Bowling Green is in the path of totality and is a short drive from the location where the duration of totality is greatest.
GHOU2017 conference creates a platform for professional astronomers and educators to meet and share hands-on and minds-on learning in the framework of the Global Hands-on Universe network. Sessions will cover:
- Solar eclipses in society.
- Robotic and remote telescopes for education.
- 21st century skills for teachers and students.
- Social media for science education.
- Science and art collaborations for education.
- Science with technology in the classroom.
- Assessment and evaluation of teaching and learning outcome.
- GHOU best practices and reports on astronomy for development.
- Impact of learning games in STE(A)M education.
Abstract Submission and Registration:
GHOU creates a platform to share your local efforts, introduce best practices, and way to collaborate with peers. We encourage you to submit an abstract within the scope of the conference theme at: http://handsonuniverse.org/ghou2017/registration/
Teacher Training:
If you are a teacher or an educator, we encourage you to register for series of workshop sessions to be held at GHOU throughout the week. http://handsonuniverse.org/ghou2017/registration/
Conference fees:
You may pay the conference fees via PayPal at http://handsonuniverse.org/ghou2017/fees/ or at the door preceding the conference.
Please remember there is a 50% reduction for the conference and the workshops if you pay your membership dues for 2017. This can easily be complete by reviewing http://handsonuniverse.org/membership/, clicking the appropriate link at the bottom of the page and completing the PayPal form.
Accommodation:
A block of rooms reserved under a special price at Hyatt Place Hotel in Bowling Green Monday through Thursday (14-17 August) at $149 per night and Friday through Monday (18-21 August) at $169 per night. Prices include all taxes and fees. These rooms must be booked by 30 April 2017.
Rooms may have a king size bed or two queen size beds and a fold out queen size couch (they can sleep up to six people). When you book your room please tell the hotel you are from Global Hands-on Universe 2017.
